Gallstones not only cause discomfort during gallbladder attacks, but can be life-threatening if the gallstone becomes lodged in the bile duct causing obstruction. I can understand your doctor suggesting surgery to avoid this dangerous scenario, particularly if you have frequent and severe attacks.
However, if surgery is your last resort, there are some very effective herbs that can be used to reduce the frequency and severity of your gallbladder attacks while softening and dissolving your gallstone(s). To treat a gallstone of that size (2.3cm), it would involve committing to daily use of herbs for 6-12 months and dietary modifications such as avoidance of fat from all sources. Regular ultrasounds are suggested to monitor your progress and have been helpful in showing reduction of gallstones in many other patients.
This approach will improve your digestion and overall well-being while potentially saving your gallbladder, which according to Chinese medicine is regarded as the organ responsible for will-power and our ability to make decisions.
Best of luck with your decision.
