Hi. First it is important to know why he is taking the puffers - is it asthma or someother condition? Does he have allergies? Probiotics can help with that as well as repairing intestinal health as lack of good bacteria in the gut is a leading factor in the development of alergies and plays a role in asthma. Taking magnesium can help break up mucus in the throat and lungs which can contribute to coughing and wheezing. Excess calcium promotes mucus production so if your son consumes a lot of dairy, he may be getting too much calcium in relation to magnesium so either cut down the dairy and up the magnuiesium-rich foods like nuts and seeds and green leafy vegetables or give him a magnesium supplement to balance the calcium in the dairy. Your local health food store can recommend a magnesium product suitable for a 7 year old. This may or may not help him get off the puffers but it may at least lesson the amount he needs and you won't know until you try. Taking your son to see a homeopath can also be extremely beneficial to help correct the underlying issues.
