Vitalis Bedtime contains California poppy and Hops. It does not contain Valerian.
Although Valerian is well known for its sleep benefits clinical trials have shown that progressive benefits are observed over a 4 week period and not following a single-dose use. Basically, you need to take Valerian daily for a few weeks before you really obtain the sleep benefits. PLUS, the majoirty of clinical trials showing benefits involved combinations of 2 herbs.
Vitalis Bedtime uses the benefits of the Hops (sedative) along with that of California poppy (hypnotic). The mechanism of action of the California poppy is very different from that of Valerian. You do not need to take several times to obtain the sleep benefits; it works the first time. You should feel the drowsiness begin approximately 15-30 minutes after intake.
