Question:

Is Pavosic available in Canada? Natural alternative to NSAIDs?

Good afternoon,
I emailed you back in April asking for alternative medications instead of narcardics, I received a reply from Dr. Tsang and Dr Chanberland stating Willow bark, Curamin or California poppy was recommended. I have been using the California poppy but I would like to know if the pharmicutical brand is available (Pavosic) in Canada? or is there something else my family physicain can perscribe?? I would also like to know what options I have instead of Vimovo 500mg-20mg? I have been taking 1230mg x 4 daily of Devils Claw and 1000 mg of Magnesium for my arthristis...this has not been helping. As previously explained I am a Breast cancer survivor and have had a hernicated disc (trying to heal), so I am wanting to go the natural route instead of using chemical medications....I also have been seeing a Chiropracter, doing yoga and walking. So my whold body hurts, mostly my back, knees, feet and elbows. Thank you for your time,
Amanda

Pavosic is made by a Canadian company and is available in Canada (www.pavosic.ca).

Vimovo is a pharmaceutical product containing the NSAID Naprosyn with the active ingredient of Nexium. The latter is used to protect the stomach from the effects of the NSAID. An altenative you could try is manufactured by Wampole Inc and is called Vitalis Relief (http://www.wampole.ca/33-en-vitalis-relief.html ). It contains several anti-inflammatory ingredients, including Devil's claw, that target different inflammation pathways. Research has shown that this approach results in additive benefits. You should take 2 capsules three times a day. This will provide a dose of Devil's claw equivalent to 6 grams of the dried secondary root. Do not use the other supplement with Devil's claw!

You should also try the Vitalis Comfort Gel (http://www.wampole.ca/57-en-vitalis-comfort-gel.html ) for local pain relief (e.g., knees, elbows).
